Did you eat too many Easter eggs and Hot Cross buns over the weekend?
Firstly, Happy Easter to everyone. I hope that you all had a wonderful time spent with your family, enjoying the gorgeous sunshine.
Who can resist eating too many eggs and those yummy hot cross buns?
However, a weekend of eating too many sweets and bad food can leave you feeling yukky, full and sluggish.
Here’s 3 tips to recover from sugar binge:
- Go back to basics. Go back to basics for your meals this week. Eat a good quality source of protein with every meal with 1-2 cups of greens. Protein helps us feel fuller for longer and helps reduce sugar cravings. The greens will help your body detox the sugar overload and deal with any sugar withdrawals. An example would be organic, grass –fed steak with a yummy green salad for dinner.
- Get out in the sunshine and exercise. That sluggish feeling can be helped by exercising as exercising helps boost those endorphins, those good feelings we get from moving our bodies. A 30-45 minute walk outside should do the trick or if you are feeling super motivated then a 20 minute interval session. Example: jog or walk fast up a hill and then walk down the hill for a total of 20 minutes.
- Drink a green juice everyday. The green vegetables, kale and spinach are packed full of B vitamins which are great for energy and detoxification. My favourite green juice includes, kale, spinach, lemon, mint and a small amount of apple. I encourage you to add a green juice to your day to increase energy and detoxification.
